FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

About Prints & Materials

What kind of paper are the art prints printed on?

Our art prints are produced on heavyweight white matte paper with a smooth, non-reflective finish (ranging from 110–300 gsm / 80 lb depending on size and format). Framed prints use 200 gsm paper. All paper is FSC-certified and sourced from environmentally responsible suppliers.

Are the prints fade-resistant?

Prints are made on fade-resistant matte archival-quality paper designed to preserve color and brushwork texture over time. For best results, hang artwork away from direct sunlight and high-humidity areas. We describe our paper as archival-quality — we do not make specific longevity guarantees in years, as display conditions vary widely.

What medium are the original artworks painted in?

All artwork originates as hand-painted gouache paintings. Prints are reproductions of those original gouache works, carefully produced to capture the rich textures and colors of the original.

Are prints signed?

Please check the individual product listing for signature details, as this varies by product.

Originals vs. Prints

What is the difference between an original painting and a print?

Original paintings are one-of-a-kind, hand-painted gouache artworks on 220 gsm handmade paper. Each original comes in a clear protective sleeve with backing board and is pre-cut to fit a standard frame. Once sold, an original is gone.

Art prints are high-quality reproductions of original gouache paintings, printed on archival-quality matte paper. Prints are available in multiple sizes and framing options, making them a more accessible and flexible way to own a piece of Zoe Art Garden work.

Do prints look like the original painting?

We reproduce prints with care to preserve the color palette and texture feel of the original gouache painting. Because gouache has a distinctive matte, velvety quality, our matte archival paper is chosen specifically to complement that aesthetic. Slight color variation between screen display and printed output is normal.

Framing

Should I choose a framed or unframed print?

It depends on your preference and timeline. Framed prints are ready to hang right out of the box — they come in wood (natural/earthy tone), white, or black frames made from durable pine, oak, or ash wood, with shatterproof plexiglass protection and a ready-to-hang mounting kit included. Unframed prints give you the flexibility to choose your own frame to match your existing decor, and are generally more affordable and easier to ship.

For a deeper look at the trade-offs, read our guide: Framed vs. Unframed Art Prints: Which Is Better?

What frame styles and colors are available?

Framed prints are available in three styles: Wood (natural, earthy tones), White, and Black. Frames are 20–25 mm thick and include shatterproof plexiglass and a hanging kit.

Can I frame an unframed print myself?

Yes. Unframed prints are sized to standard frame dimensions (5×7, 8×10, 11×14, 12×16, 16×20, 18×24, and 24×32 inches), so they fit easily into off-the-shelf frames from most home decor retailers.

Sizing

What sizes are available?

Art prints are available in: 5×7, 8×10, 11×14, 12×16, 16×20, 18×24, and 24×32 inches. Postcards and small prints come in additional smaller formats. Check individual product listings for available sizes.

How do I choose the right size for my wall?

A good rule of thumb is to choose artwork that covers about 60–75% of your available wall space for a balanced look. Smaller sizes like 5×7 or 8×10 work beautifully in reading corners, entryways, and shelves. Medium sizes (12×16 or 16×20) suit bedrooms, offices, and smaller living room walls. For large walls above a sofa, bed, or dining area, 18×24 or 24×32 — or a grouped gallery arrangement — creates a strong focal point.

About a calming home

How to Create a Calming Home with Nature-Inspired Art?

Creating a calming home starts with choosing art that reflects natural elements and soothing colors. Nature-inspired art—such as floral paintings, botanical prints, landscapes, and soft abstract forms—helps bring a sense of balance and tranquility into your space.

To create a peaceful atmosphere, choose artwork with gentle color palettes like greens, soft blues, earthy neutrals, and warm pastels. These tones are known to reduce visual stress and make a room feel more relaxed and inviting.

Placement also matters. Hang nature-inspired wall art in areas where you unwind the most, such as bedrooms, living rooms, or reading corners. Pairing artwork with natural materials like wood frames, linen textiles, and indoor plants can further enhance the calming effect.

Finally, keep your space visually simple. Instead of overcrowding walls, choose a few meaningful pieces that create harmony rather than visual noise. This allows your nature-inspired art to become a focal point that supports a peaceful, restorative home environment.

Why is Nature-Inspired Art Good for Mental Wellbeing?

Nature-inspired art is often associated with improved mental wellbeing because it brings visual elements of the natural world into everyday living spaces. Studies in environmental psychology suggest that exposure to nature—whether real or represented—can help reduce stress and support a calmer emotional state.

Artwork featuring natural scenes such as flowers, plants, forests, or landscapes can create a sense of relaxation by encouraging the mind to slow down. Soft colors commonly found in nature, such as greens, blues, and earthy tones, are known to feel soothing and less visually overwhelming compared to harsh or highly saturated visuals.

Nature-inspired art can also improve focus and mood by creating a more balanced and harmonious environment. In home settings, it helps transform a space into a gentle retreat from daily stress, especially in areas like bedrooms, living rooms, or workspaces.

In addition, natural imagery often evokes positive emotional associations—such as freshness, growth, and openness—which can subtly influence how a space feels. This makes nature-inspired wall art a simple yet effective way to support mental comfort and emotional wellbeing in daily life.

About gouache

Is gouache artwork archival and long-lasting?

Gouache artwork can be archival and long-lasting when it is created and stored with high-quality materials and proper care. Professional-grade gouache paints, especially when applied on archival paper such as cotton or acid-free paper, can remain stable and vibrant for many years.

However, gouache is a reactivatable water-based medium, which means it can be sensitive to prolonged exposure to moisture and direct sunlight. To improve longevity, artists often protect finished gouache paintings with UV-protective glass framing. This helps preserve color vibrancy and prevents fading over time.

Framing also plays an important role in archival quality. Using acid-free mats, backing boards, and sealed frames helps protect the artwork from humidity, dust, and environmental damage. When properly framed and cared for, gouache artwork can last for decades while maintaining its visual quality.

For collectors and home decor use, gouache art prints and originals are considered a beautiful but delicate medium—best preserved through thoughtful framing and placement away from direct sunlight or high-humidity areas.

Overall, gouache artwork can be long-lasting and archival when created with professional materials and displayed in protective conditions.
